There's and old Irish saying that says pretty much anything you want it to.

Just ordered a BIG whistle case from Big Whistle today http://www.bigwhistle.co.uk/special_offers.asp . Looks really good in a very big, blue, lots of room for whistles kind of way. Filling it with high end whistles is still some way off though Will post again when I've had a look at it.

- Tell us something.: I play flute, whistle and harp and have been a member on this board for many years. I have tended to be a lurker recently and just posted a response for the first time in quite awhile.

The Clearance Cave at Cabela's has yielded some great cases and tubes. Another find I made was a handsome leather map case (tube) in an antique shop- still had a strap attached. I imagine drawing tubes might work too.Chiffed wrote:Having recently recovered from FRAGAD (Fly rod and gear acquisistion disorder) I can tell you that, in any high-end tackle shop you will find cases for all lengths of skinny things. Hardy, Orvis, Scott, Dragonfly, and Loomis all make cases for 4-5 piece rods: very fancy, robust, and slick. Prices range greatly.

Way out in the middle of nowhere, 8 miles from the Kansas border, south east corner of the state. It’s very peaceful here.Scott McCallister wrote:This thread covered some insteresting solutions as well

- Tell us something.: Long ago, I was told that I faked iTrad whistle work very well. I took that comment to heart. 20 years of private lessons - and many, many hours of rehearsal later - I certainly hope I have improved...

- Tell us something.: I play the first flute Jon Cochran ever made but haven't been very active on the board the last 9-10 years. Life happens I guess...I owned a keyed M&E flute for a while and I kind of miss it.

Jon C. over on the flute forum makes some nice cases out of oak, and they are very reasonably priced. I just use a roll made of fleece.

Go to Wal-mart or Gander Mountain or a local sporting goods store and get you a shot-gun case. It will protect about 10 to 12 whistles for a reasonable price of $19.95.
best of luck

I have a similar whistle case. Only yesterday I paid the local engineer for putting a brass plate on the lid with 6 threaded holes and for 6 short brass stems which I can screw in when I need whistle stands - the case then becomes a stable base for a 6 whistle stand. Looks neat. Sorry I don't have equipage to post photo.chattiekathy wrote:I don't have any $300 whistles but my son-in-law made me this case to keep my favorite whistles in.

Just cruising an ebay seller and came across this baby!

Might get a few looks walking into a session with it but man, you'd be ready for ANYTHING with that case!

Minus the gun, I think that this one would be a good choice. One could fit any number of different kinds of whistles in this case. Plus you get a storage are for accessories, too. Only costs $30 (USD) from Cabela's. Hm, I think I may need to get one soon.
Ooooo! That's great!IDAwHOa wrote:Just cruising an ebay seller and came across this baby!

"Playing the whistle is nothing impressive. All one has to do is cover the right holes at the right time, and the instrument plays itself."

From an ealier post.
LeeMarsh wrote:Depending on the number of whistles and tubular instruments, you might want to consider one of the smaller or larger size cue cases (as in pool Cue) Here's a link to examples of the types of hard cases availables - Dealer Cases or Smaller hard cases.
I have one of the 3 channel cases simular to the 1B2S case by Schmelke it fits my Overton low-D, Low-F and 2-3 soprano whistles. The case is considered a 1 plus size hard case. Here's a picture.
A 6 stick hard case would have 12 channels with a mix of widths to accomodate the butt and tip sections of the cues.
You can check out more cue case options through a yahoo search for "pool cue case" and get links likeHere's a picture of a Sterling 10 cue case:
