My Hamon Practice Set (Pics)

Post by KDMARTINKY »

I have had many of you email or PM'ing me asking if i would post pictures of my set. Here are three pics, but please keep in mind that photography isn't my bag so these pics don't do the set justice. Their are two pics of the set and a close up of the Chanter (well as close as I could get).

Jeff asked:
what are the mounts made of Keith?
When I asked Seth about the set prior to the purchase this is what he had to say about the Chanter:

Ebony with imitation amber mounts from GPS www.ivoryalternative.com .... lightly scalloped holes, and mounts for a Cnat key only

I hope this answers your question Jeff, if not let me know.

Interesting. I wonder if real amber can be worked for mounts, is it hard enough.

Fossilized tree sap?

It may be too transparent and the inner workings will show through.

I am afriad that Amber is too brittle for use as mounts.

I was thinking it looks and feels similar to violin rosin and could shatter easily.

Would it be unorthodox of me to ask how the chanter sounds? - how's the tone; - is the reed finnicky? etc.
