OK, I'll go with the first guess as I started this...

I feel some backpressure, I am guessing a copper base whistle, but seems to be too much chiff for an O'Brien. Not plastic base, I am pretty confident, definitely not Susato. I haven't heard many clips of Serpent whistles, and dont' have one myself, but I'll open the vote with Serpent as a first guess...

I'm going to guess something made out of wood. Don't laugh too hard. I've only tried 3 whistles in my life.

It is much breathier than any of mine. I have never played a Serpent but I understand they are pretty breathy, could be. It might be a Shaw but the only one I have played didn't seem to be that breathy.

I've never met a whistle I didn't want.

Tell us something.: Longtime member of Chiff and Fipple. I own/have owned more whistles than a person should, I think. But I’m not complaining.

Not a Susato, Clarke, O'Brien. Don't think it's a Generation. Doesn't sound "raspy" enough to be a Feadog. Doesn't sound like a Mellow D or a Little Black whistle to me.

I'm guessing Clare.

I would guess wood, also, or possibly plastic/polymer/delrin, but wood would be my first guess.

Best wishes,
Jerry

I would say Sweetheart but I think there is too much chiff. I also will go with wood. Could be an Alba also. Too complex to brass and not pure enough to be Delrin. Could be a Shaw or Clarke original. This is a tough one.

I played along with my Jerry-tweaked Shaw, and it sounded very close to
me. So, that's what I'm going with.

I'll post the answer sunday, provided no one guesses it sooner (and no one has) :)
