Missy We stopped at Jungle Jims on the way back last time. What a place! We didn't buy too much except some bread some Thai noodles, overly expensive fancy carbonated water (very good though) and some other non-perishables.
Izz Didn't mean to ruin it.
I Forgot Stovetop stuffing, beef jerky, slim jims and Dinty Moore Beef Stew.
I am picky about my tequila though. After drinking the real stuff (clear, not brown) I found out how watered down US bottled tequila is.
All tequila is made in Mexico but they ship lots of it elsewhere for bottling. The bottlers then add water. This is called mixto.
Any tequila that is 100% agave must be bottled in Mexico. That doesn't mean that all tequila bottled in Mexico is 100%, it means if it's bottled somewhere else, it's not 100%.
There are three classes of tequila. Blanco, Reposido and Anejo.
Blanco is bottled fresh from the distillation. It's generally clear but there is a gold variety that is the same thing with caramel added for color.
It's very raw and I'd rather use it for mixing then drinking straight.
Reposido has been aged for up to a year in oak barrels. The only kind I've had was light gold color. Mellower then Blanco.
Anejo has been aged for at least a year. It's gold or reddish colored from the barrel. I've only had this once and I thought it was good. A lot easier to get down then blanco.
A party store down the road from me has a bottle of Anejo for $60.00 I've decided that if there's a real special occasion I may buy it. I need to look up the brand first to make sure it's actually worth it.
Technically you're not supposed to gulp it down in shots. It's supposed to be sipped slowly, though I still down the occasional shot. I never use lemon or salt. Bah. Why spoil the taste.
That's my boozemanship for the day.

I'm no longer trying a new posting paradigm

Listen to me young fellow, what need is there for fish to sing when i can roar and bellow?
We are close to Duesseldorf and Cologne, plenty of breweries around in our own town wie Hannen or some microbrewery, we have one in our little village, too who have a Pils and Alt throughout the year and for Christmas or Eastern they have additional specials. Access to good beer is not the problem but I just do not like it, much too bitter. The only way I can drink it is to put the same amount of lemonade on top "shandy" and this only may happen on a hot summer's day.flanum wrote:"24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence?

I like cheap food..I just never personally post about when I cook Homestyle Bakes, well, because it's not very interestingFlyingcursor wrote:Beer and Tequila are my potables of choice.
Here's what bugs me about all of the food threads. It's like a competition to see who can outclass who.
I can't believe there aren't people here (besides Cran) who don't like plain ole off the shelf candy bars (snickers, kit-kat etc), Velveeta or Cheez Whiz, Spaghetti-O's, McDonalds, Budweiser, Jack Daniels, Wonder Bread, bologna, Kraft macaroni and cheese, Hamburger Helper, canned corned beef hash and so on.
Some indeed have confessed to liking some of the cheaper things of life but for the most part it's like a test of upsmanship.
There. That's been on my mind for some time. Thank you.
