OK, How Bout Idiocyncratic Favorites, Not Great

Post by PhilO »

Your lists made me think of movies that I (and often my daughter and I) love but know are neither great nor universally or widely loved.

El Topo

Point Break (MY daughter and I watch this whenever it's on)

Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai (We own this one)

Thunderheart (We watch it over and over and especially love Graham Greene)

True Romance

The Salton Sea

Hear My Song

Waking Ned Devine

Field of Dreams (but just the part where Costner's character asks his Father: "Hey - Da- I mean, John? You want to have a catch?" Then I to switch it off real quick and go have some alone time). :sniffle:

Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn. Gawd, I love Bruce Campbell in that. The dancing skeleton, too. And the scene where the hand that he cut off is attacking him, and he covers it with a bucket, then has to cover the bucket with a pile of books. And the top book is "A farewell to arms." It just doesn't get any better than that.

One of my favorite really awful movies is Redneck Zombies. It's a Tromaville movie. Takes place on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, with some bozo smoking dope when he's transporting "toxic chemical nuclear waste." He loses a barrell, and a guy makes the barrell into a still. He distributes his moonshine to all his regulars, including a woman who's giving her toddler a bath in the washing machine, and fills his bottle with moonshine. Many of the people have just gotten TV's and have taken names from the Beverly Hillbillies, including a huge guy who keeps insisting on being called Ellie Mae. It's a scream. Pretty gross if you can't tell ham from human flesh, though.
