Making own purse pads?
I'd like to attempt to make pads for my flute. Does someone know where to find the leather? Hammy Hamilton calls it "pneumatic lamb skiver"! Thanks, John.

Source of leather!
I just got this reply from Feree's Tools:
Dear John,
You could try our B33 white kid pads. Just order a large pad to give you the flexibility you will need to do the job.
Best wishes for Good repairs,
Gary FerRee, Repairman
Sounds like this might be the best bet! J.

- Tell us something.: I restore 19th century flutes, specializing in Rudall & Rose, and early American flutes. I occasionally make new flutes. Been at it for about 15 years.

Hi John,
I told you the pads would be fun... How does the new "old" flute sound?
Did you get one of your head joints to fit it?

Old flute..
Hi Jon. It sorta fit on the Gallagher head, but it really needs new pads. I plan on corking it too before I send it to you for a new head. The keys cleaned up nicely, as did the wood. It's a dark reddish, can't tell if it's rosewood or cocus. The flute looks petite compared to the Gallagher pratten, J.
