I'd like to attempt to make pads for my flute. Does someone know where to find the leather? Hammy Hamilton calls it "pneumatic lamb skiver"! Thanks, John.

If I remember right, its the same stuff they use for bellows...check a concertina supplies....

What you need to do is use quality leather pads, the larger size such as clarinet ones are ideal. Strip out the plastic disc, felt etc then fill with cotton wool and tie-off with some strong cotton thread.

i use leather from old leather gloves (ladies) with much success. i've experimented with a variety of materials to use as a stuffing, and i actually found a bit of wool lining from the gloves seems to work best for me.

You could try our B33 white kid pads. Just order a large pad to give you the flexibility you will need to do the job.

Old flute..

Hi Jon. It sorta fit on the Gallagher head, but it really needs new pads. I plan on corking it too before I send it to you for a new head. The keys cleaned up nicely, as did the wood. It's a dark reddish, can't tell if it's rosewood or cocus. The flute looks petite compared to the Gallagher pratten, J.
