Royce.... I mean Donald,
I think Carel's point is simply that to him (and many of us) it is all about having fun and exploring our own limits, pushing them, sometimes over the edge... or way over in my case, and not necessarily about placing ourselves or our names among the likes of Doran, Ennis, Clancy, Rowesome et al.
Style of music? It is simply a matter of personal taste. Level of playing? Nothing really to argue about here... we all know where we are and where we most likely will be with our piping in how ever many years down the road. The loop? One of the worst places to drive slow in Chicago.

If anyone who is still reading this topic missed it, see my response in this thread (this obvious no longer has anything to do with Michael Vignoles or his pipes )

Free expression is all well and good but this sort of trolling is just plain harmful. The notion that all greatness is immediately apparent not only smacks of elitism, it's oppressive to the human spirit. It's fine to tell someone to walk before they can fly, but "have fun and don't worry about it", when delivered at the end of a monologue about how great pipers are marked from birth, amounts to 'pinioning.[1]'
