Tell us something.: Longtime member of Chiff and Fipple. I own/have owned more whistles than a person should, I think. But I’m not complaining.

I saw the clip. Seems like there's a lot of chiff and the air requirements are rather high.

And then there's what happens if you drop it! :o :boggle:

As much as I have always dreamed of sky-diving, and of the ultra-light temptation, I am going to choose staying grounded ... now... if Mr. Hardy decides he needs to find loving homes for his soon to be neglected little whistles... I'm up for that challenge! :D

Tell us something.: I play whistles. I sell whistles. This seems just a BIT excessive to the cause. A sentence or two is WAY less than 100 characters.

That clip just cofirmed my opinion. The take-off looked mighty fun alright if zipping around real fast headed straight at things is your idea of fun. And then what the heck do you do once you're up there? Hang on tight, okay, I get that part. But I mean, we already know what the ground looks like, right? So why be dangling yourself perilously up there when you could just be walking on solid ground? :-?

Quitting

Post by Micheal »

Maybe he's quitting due to the effect the noise from the motor may have on his ears. Those things can get loud after a while. But I have to admit they look like a lot of fun too. Only other downside I see is that a tank of gas will run more than most mid-priced whistles :-?

Good Luck and GodSpeed!

If you have tried MICROLIGHTING you'll know why.
Way to go Phil!
After more than fifteen years of hang gliding and a bit of trike flying I can understand your excitement. There just aren’t much that can compare (oh, sex maybe). No need to give up whistling. My experience is that there will be plenty of time sitting around the air field or landing zone waiting for weather to improve or winds to change. So keep a few whistles under the seat, they will come in handy. Best practice times I ever had was actually after a good cross country flight, sitting on my packet up glider, waiting to get picket up.

Sold my last glider a few years ago and invested in a new road cycle and a set of pipes. Miss flying immensely and occasionally dream about flying and entering a monster thermal.
I can almost feel the guttery feeling when I wake up and my wife claims that I even cling to the bedpost. I’m sure I will take it up again when the kids get older, until then I’ll have to settle for playing ITM and cycling.

I also agree with Chiffed, floaters are great on a microlight.

Or if you live on the coast get some fat wheels so you can land on the beach.

You should get into contact with BJS he is another microlighting whistle player that might not be living to far from you.

STIFF WINGS!

BTW: Airborne Windsports even have microlight home delivery :-)

Hey Phil, looks like you could make one of those out of some bass whisltes, a couple of bed sheets and some sticky-backed plastic. How long before we see a "Chieftain" microlight?

Don't forget to call Freeman for a large supply of Sticky-Tack; sometimes duct tape won't do it.
