I wonder if a time traveler could stop the Tyrant's perfidious plan, and free us of the blight.
But who's our man? Who...who...
Exactly: Doctor Who.
Nonsense, the good Doctor doesn't have the Flux Capacitor, and we all know thats what makes time travel possible!

Besides, even if I were making fun it would be no worse then all the
making fun of Christianity that goes on here. I mean, if you can make
fun or ridicule one set of beliefs why not all of them? I'd rather not
seriously make fun of anyone. Least of all you who've always been a

Yeah, I know. It's no one's fault, really. It's just sort of not a real good
time in my life right now. And I'm a little touchy about some things. I
don't know if I believe in reincarnation or not. I don't know what religion
Charlie belonged to. Very late one night, he just matter-of-factly told me
the story that I sort of summarized earlier. He and his older brother had
a very strong bond. He believed that he and his brother were put
together this time around to take care of each other again, much as they
remembered doing from their earlier time together. I don't know how to
explain this so it makes sense. We were best friends during another bad
time in my life. We both looked out for each other. Neither of us would
ever let anything bad happen to the other without coming to the other's
aid. I suppose you really had to be there to fully understand what I'm
trying to say. I didn't know how to deal with the sudden news of his
death. The only thing that brought me peace of mind was remembering
his belief that we may come this way again. Writing about him brought
back a flood of memories. I guess I was once again trying to look out for
my friend.

I know that no one was directing their comments at me or at Charlie.
And I try not to take myself too seriously. I'm Catholic and I've probably
poked fun at the Church, nuns and clergy as much as anyone. But some
of the things that were said on this thread just felt different. I don't know
why. But I'm ok with it now. So don't worry about it. :)

BTW, F.C., have I told you lately that I still like that lime-green helmet
your avatar is wearing? :)

Well if you do come back, don't come back as Tom Cruise and spoil another generation! :P

Please just knock it off, huh? For my sake. For Charlie's sake. For the

Hey Will, I think the comments you are reacting to were not about your post at all, just about Tom Cruise and his ... ummm... interesting statements of late.

I know you are still in pain about Charlie... I'll wager he's waiting to share some stories with you later.

Well I'll be more thoughtful next time. I cannot comprehend what you are going through right now and need to keep that in mind. If you feel the posts were offensive then they were offensive. So my humblest apologies. I don't think you were overreacting at all. AND you don't need to justify or apologize for anything.
I'm no longer trying a new posting paradigm

Yes, I'd agree. It's not about your post at all. Not about whether reincarnation is possible, either.

I think it's just that Tom Cruise managed to be so very many famous people in his past lives, and doesn't have the faintest clue that this might be improbable. Or that his performance in War of the Worlds doesn't quite measure up to that level of achievement.

To me, it's more likely that Tom Cruise read Shakespeare in a past dyslexia-free existence and played Christopher Columbus and The New World with toy boats in another.

In my tai chi class this week, I suddenly got the whole point behind the series of moves known as "move hands like clouds," connecting it to certain defensive martial arts maneuvers. While I don't discount the possibility that I was a Chinese warrior in a past life, I doubt that my sudden flash of insight proves that I was Bruce Lee.

The problem here is the spectacle of Tom Cruise. It's a very short step from all those famous folks to thinking you are Jesus Christ, but in his case, I expect he'll be thinking he was L. Ron. There'll be some sort of tin-foil-electrode rationale for the time discrepancy, for sure.

I am not a believer in transmigration of souls, but if I had a past life I reckon I would have been Ignatius Donelly, who figured out the code that showed that Francis Bacon actually wrote the plays for Tom Cruise. Or was it Kevin Bacon? Say... how many steps to connect Kevin Bacon to Francis Bacon?

Well... anyone but Tom Cruise.

Hey Will, we're with you all the way. BTW - you do know that many of us here spell terribly and several qualify as 'sicko's, so the cammoflage is top hole.
