Florida Chiffers! Start cooking everything in the freezer!

Post by Lambchop »

Look what just appeared over by the Bahamas . . . expected to be a hurricane by landfall . . . though probably not a big one.

I hope it's not bad. There are too many hurricanes in Florida.

BTW, I think this post ("start cooking everything in the freezer") fits Dale's "weird headlines" thread. :P

It doesn't even have a name, yet. The last one I heard about was Irene (good night) which was a bit of a bust. Have I missed any?

Yup. You missed Jose. It formed in the Bay of Campeche and went west into Mexico.

This one should be a hurricane in about 48 hours. By the time it reaches landfall. It's not even showing up nicely in the satellite views, yet.

You know how I knew this was in the offing? Psychic? No. Hotline to my cousin at the Weather Channel? No. How did I know?

I got my car out of the body shop on Saturday.

Isn't Texas, Louisiana or North Carolina about due? Everyone ought to do their share.

I suppose it depends on if it's a red or blue hurricane where it will hit.

Isn't it odd that they usually give such storms tame names? I would think that names like 'Lance', 'Conan' and 'Red Sonya' would be more appropriate.

Business was brisk at gas stations even last night . . . a car at every pump. Same this morning at 0700. No lines yet, though. (The ports close to tanker traffic and we run out of gas.)

Yesterday, the grocery store near me had to bring in extra workers to restock shelves. They already had giant pallets of water strategically located near the doors, along with huge stacks of tuna/crackers and what-all. At 0700 this morning, it looked like the stores had opened early and there were already a lot of cars in the lots.

I did forget to stop by the ATM last night. Now, I'm going to have to take my lunch to go to the bank, because the ATMs were already out of cash this morning.

Hehe...let [Katrina] come! I'm putting the finishing touches on my kite! I'm ready though. We're stocked up on food and supplies. Last year, there was no damage to the roof (except for about 8 shingle fragments). It's an old roof, but we had it redone earlier this year. So we're double prepared. I should probably call me grandmother and see if she wants to spend the weekend with us. I love it when my grandma comes over. Good food (cooked over the stove  ).

I just came in from outside... it's calm, almost no rain. The eye of the storm just passed over my area.
