The Whistle Shop has Clarkes on sale for $6. I just ordered a bunch shipped to the posted addy. Sounds as though Thom has more in stock.

Didn't George say "Bring it on". Hey, those insugents are more obedient to our commander-in-chief than we are.

I think this is great, and I am going to send my cheap whistle. It would be nice to help in any way I can. I may not support our government's actions, but I support the people who are put in harms way! ...and the people we are killing for no reason for that matter...

An Irish fiddler from the Olympia commmunity is stationed in Mosul,
Iraqi and has sent several e-mails conveying the joy that music brings to
Iraqi kids. Anyone who would like to send small instruments
(harmonicas, tin whistles, jaw harps, etc.) to these children can do so through
Glenn at the address listed at the end of this excerpt from his latest
e-mail. (Postage to APO AE addresses is relatively cheap.)

(The average Iraqi loves music, and finds it quite agreeable that
Americans like music too.) The Kurdish kids north of us, in particular, get
thrilled over a simple stuffed animal, and they're practically ecstatic
over musical items. If anyone has small toy instruments (or anything at
all) that they'd like to donate to the cause, they can send it all to:

I'll make them some little PVC flutes in G (better for little hands) if they want them. Is that cool too?

I know they are a little tougher to play, but if someone can show them, they might have some fun.

Does Iraq still have the same flag? I could send them some flutes with Iraqie colors if they like. (Almost like Irish colors).

I should point out that the original request is years old and the pictures are several months old. I posted the link here because I thought the folks who sent whistles originally would want to see them. Presumably the guy who did this will be able to send the whistles somewhere useful even if he's no longer in Iraq, but it might be a good idea to make sure there is still a need before mass shipments begin again.

Good point, I doubt the Major is stiill in country, and several of the APO
adresses have changed in the past year. If you are planning on sending
any, make sure you have a current contact and address. If items are sent
to a defunct APO they could sit in a warehouse for months, and would
probably never make it to Iraq.
