This is a great thread! All of the musicians I know who take music seriously, whether professional, semi-pro or amateur, all have decidedly eclectic tastes. Although we mostly discuss music of Celtic lands here at C&F, it is interesting to see what other musical roads many of us have gone down in our lives. Please keep posting URLs to other music sites! I'm always up for exploring a new musical tradition.

Tell us something.: I used to be a regular then I took up the bassoon. Bassoons don't have a lot of chiff. Not really, I have always been a drummer, and my C&F years were when I was a little tired of the drums. Now I'm back playing drums. I mist the C&F years, though.

Matt and Shannon Heaton's Dearga. I had the pleasure and privilege of taking a class with them at Celtic College recently. Great teachers. They write some amazing tunes.

Nice to see another Genticorum fan here!

What's playing in my CD player right now? A solo musician named Bob Culbertson (www.stickmusic.com), which perhaps nobody here has heard of?

If I said "mine" would that be too self serving? :)

Actually I'm listening to singer and friend Sylvia Herold's new solo release "Lovely Nancy," www.sylviaherold.com.

Cheers all,

I don't have a CD player. Well, I used to have a CD-ROM drive, but it doesn't work any more.

I'm playing with the speakers on my PC, so I borrowed a co-worker's CD of Earth Wind and Fire greatest hits. I feel like I'm back in high school.

"My Old River" by my friend Dave Norris. I am learning his style of Americana music.
If you follow the link below to his home page, go to His Music, there is a link to Cnet which features the entire album.

I bought a bunch of CDs recently in a wide variety of styles but I won't bore you by listing them.

Today a batch of new (to me) Irish CDs turned up and I've been listening to them. Cooley's CD, Kitty Lie Over by Mick O'Brien and Caoimhin O Raghallaigh and Sean Ryan's Take the Air, each in it's own way stunning. Poised waiting their turn are CDs by Sean McAloon, the Murphys (Pip, John and Phil) and Darach O Cathain amongst others.
