273-7 (Warne b Giles tee hee!)

I might have to rethink this draw thing now.

282-8 :D Lee Bowled Jones Caught Flintoff

Reminds me of that great bit of commentary:

The batsman is Holding, The bowler's Willey.

OMG....

Aussies all out for 308. I very nearly predicted that back at the bottom of page 2...only 1 run out.

I'll put on the record now that England are going to score another 400, and declare sometiem on Sunday. :D You never know.

Rather topping, looking forward to watching England bat tomorrow.

Indeed. A splendid day. 99 in the lead, and once again our batsmen have the opportunity to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory! :)

And Flintoff on a hat-trick when he next bowls. Let there be not rain.

So, does that mean that today's play is completed?

Not quite, there's about 1/2 hour left for England to bat - but I won't be home to see it. If we can avoid losing a wicket, that would be good.

England 25-1 at close of play today, for a lead of 124.

Hoggard went in as night watchman with 4 balls left in the day, and survived. Don't think he'll last long tomorrow though!

Does this mean that there is more than a theoretical possibility that England will win this test match?

And could England win the Ashes? Would that be Englands first win since 1981 (or so) when Australia won the Ashes for first time against England? I was in England at the time, incidentally, and it was like everybody's favorite aunt had died the same day (and left all her money to charity). I remember so many Englishment glancing morosely at the telly and then speaking to each other in low, cryptic phrases.

Incidentally, why is Wombat so quiet today?

Probably because it's about 05:00 in Wombatville

I was there also, oddly enough.

Good lord, steady on old chap... we've still trying to come to terms with a first innings lead!

Three days left to go, much can happen. The Aussies are still favourites for the Ashes, at least until Mystic Martin makes a firm prediction,

I bl**dy missed all the excitement this afternoon. That's why my posts dried up. As my wife is on holiday and the sun had come out we went on a rustic ramble (around both Tamar Lakes) and by the time we got back to the car play had finished and all I got was a quick sum-up from Aggers on the car radio. Rats. Did she appreciate my sacrifice? No. Did I amass brownie points? No. This could happen again tomorrow. I need advice, fast.
