The War On Terror is over...

Post by jsluder »

From now on, please refer to it as the Struggle Against Violent Extremism (SAVE).

For your convenience, SAVE includes fresh new color codes to indicate the Violent Extremist threat level:
  • Color - Threat Level
    Goldenrod - Sunny
    Coral - Mellow
    White - Minimal
    Tan - Bland
    Khaki - Casual
    Teal - Tepid
    Aquamarine - Fluid
    Cyan - Blatant
    Maroon - Embarrassing
    Indigo - Gloomy
    Olive - Drab
    Pink - Dramatic
    Avocado - Ripe
    Chartreuse - Queasy
    Crimson - Lurid
    Fuchsia - Intense

(Of course, the term "struggle" has an interesting translation into Arabic... )
Giles: "We few, we happy few."
Spike: "We band of buggered."

I love that: the War on Violence! The ironies are savage.
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

The slogan is actually real. From the New York Times: U.S. Officials Retool Slogan for Terror War. (For those who don't like the NY Times, just google for "struggle against violent extremism" and you'll find lots of other sources. This was just the first article that came up.)

I'm recommending they go with this slogan:

TCYE,STDBY,HLTW

“To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women.”

If it was good enough for Conan the Barbarian.....

They're saving that slogan for President Schwarzenegger (after the Constitutional Amendment)...

It's the War on Privacy and Individual Liberty that bothers me.

WOPAIL must not prevail.

Yep. Rather than calling it SAVE, we could call it JIVE (Jihad Interdicting Violent Extremism).

I'm glad the war on terror is over. I was beginning to feel really badly for that Terror bloke.

WHy can't we just have a war against another country or definable group of people and call a spade a spade? Methinks wars against concepts are generally too easy to keep going.

(And no, I don't like wars against countries or people either).
OOOXXO
Doing it backwards since 2005.
