I don't have Internet access at work. Management thinks they are being nice by providing a TV set in the break room (without cable, so all we get are the 4 local channels).

But boy, at home . . . . .

Also be sure to delete temporary internet files and delete your cookies. When deleting the files, check the Delete All Offline checkbox or they'll still be in there.

And clear all those Clips and Snips out of your recently used files list.

And clean our your Favorites.

And run a spy but program to get rid of those advertising trojans.

Then go to Google or some place like it and delete all your search prompts, because if you were searching for the sheetmusic for An Phis Fhliuch by its English name, it's gonna look bad.

A good tech can still find out you've been whistling while you work, but your average boss won't.

Tell us something.: Been a fluter, citternist, and uilleann piper; committed now to the way of the harp.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

But of course.

I access the Chiffboards during spots of downtime. The shop manager used to look over my shoulder in utter bewilderment at people posting about whistles, traditions, ornamentation, and cheese. Now he doesn't bother.

yep - in between crunching data, working over chromatograms, writing up reports, or any of the other stuff I have to do on a computer. Can't do so if I'm out doing work in the lab.
(except I'm home right now - I'm taking a vacation day today).

One of the good things about being your own boss is that you can do what you want with your time. So, yes, I do a little work in my shop, and then I see what's going on on my internet sites. No supervisor is looking over my shoulder or observing me behind the frosted window, as they once did. I used to work for the U. S. Census Bureau. My performance was being constantly monitored. I was written up for using the word "crap", I remember. I wasn't even interviewing anyone at the time; I was just mumbling to myself about how I felt about my job. I was doing crime surveys for the Dept. of Justice. It begins to wear on you after awhile. You hope for someone who has had her Christmas decorations stolen from her front yard. You hope that you don't get the woman that is being abused by her husband. I hated to ask her all of the personal questions. Thank God for retirement!
