...and what is he doing in the basement on his anniversary?

Congratulations to you both.
Hehe. Good one. We've parted for just an hour, so I can catch up on the Internet while she watches "As the World Turns." Then we'll split a piece of cheescake from the local "Cheesecake Factory" and plan the next 26 years.

Here I am in the basement. There she is upstairs. I miss her so.

Dale
So, eat her half of the cheesecake too... that's what I'd do. It's amazing how cheesecake can take your mind off of missing someone... :D A very happy anniversary to you both!

Oh Dale. Your wife is allowing you to think she is allowing you to spend time in the basement because, since she loves you, she does not wish you to know that she actually WANTS you to spend time in the basement. And see how happy you both are? Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Happy Anniversary.

CONGRATULATIONS!

when my twin brother had his silver wedding (25th), I (divorced by then) asked how he had done it - "I just did what I was told", he said...

Ah, cheescake! We will also share cheescake...

Congratulations you two.

BTW an English couple who recently celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary gave the following two pieces of advice for a happy marriage

Wife: Never go to bed angry

Husband: Learn to say "Yes dear" a lot
May the joy of music be ever thine.
(BTW, my name is John)

The blessed woman! I see her as god(ess) and light to guide me in allowing the continued presence of my own beloved male-type person (interestingly, also named Dale), who has managed to stay out of the doghouse most of the last 23 years come Sept 24th. May I follow her example and he yours... well... may we at least get on with it for a good many more years! :)

and, at the risk of wearing it out in the first 24 hours,

Actually, anniemcu, your sign-off is a good mantra for a long-lasting marriage. "Peace is a worthy goal." For those who've achieved it for something along the lines of 26 years, it's definitely a moment for celebration.
See how far you've come, Dale! Congrats!

and a Happy Bastille Day too, for those who missed it!

I used to have to pretend my birthday was July 14th, because it wasn't. Very useful for French Oral. Examinations.

Congrats! Vive le Dale!

Dale, if I'm not mistaken, the big event took place only about 4 miles from the Brass Roof Inn here in the Republic of West Ozarkia. Is that right? :D
