From what I've heard, you might need a great deal of good luck if you're going to deal with Sam Murray, and it would probably be adviseable to move to Ireland until the flute is done so you can constantly check up on him, otherwise you might be looking at a 10+ years wait time and no chance for a refund.
These are just rumours I've heard, I have absolutely no personal experience in this matter, but lots of other people have had an extremely hard time trying to deal with Sam.

If they're just rumours, then maybe they're not worth mentioning? Just a thought. Jeff, Sam Murray's phone # is +353 91 532848 (per Brad's site).

Well, they are rumours for me. I was hoping that some of the people who acctually have experience in this would chime in. This has been discussed quite a few times and I know that some of the board members here have reported lousy customer service. It's nothing personal versus Sam, who is apperantly a very nice man, he's just got some problems and he's been ignoring duties towards his customers on many occations.Jonathan wrote:If they're just rumours, then maybe they're not worth mentioning? Want to do good business with Sam?
Then don't act a bollocks, and don't assume that you own him or his time for a few hundred lousy Euro.
Your money means very little to the likes of Sam, abhorrent as that may seem in certain quarters.
Seem strange?
If so then you should probably order from the 'makers' that are trawling the internet trying to please people at all costs and pick up custom, or order from some hack who worries about his customer service more than his instruments.
I highly reccommend the Murray option BTW for what it's worth.
Regards,
Harry.

Wait'll you hear Hesperus.
Yup. Sam Murray is one guy, making one flute at a time, and he's got other stuff to do, too. It's in all of our best interests to help people like Sam, Pat O., and other craftsmen keep liking their jobs. Otherwise it's no flutes at all.
Meanwhile, there are used ones out there if you're in a hurry. For a new one, it's like Kate said.
And yeah, Murrays rock.
Deja Fu: The sense that somewhere, somehow, you've been kicked in the head exactly like this before.

Eric, cat once wrote me an email saying that you and I are not worthy of a Murray flute - really ! she lists Murray flutes on eBay under one name, and gets them using her other eBay name for nothing just to mess with us, to break us down, mess with our self worth.
and then she names them Asparagus ( ) and Hoss (all fruits and vegetables, like the ones she is trying to turn us into) ! it's common knowledge, everyone knows that but us.
next time there is a Murray flute listed on eBay, I'm going to report her !
