Marble Arch is at the end of the Oxford Street shopping district, at a corner of Hyde Park. I don't know where Hackney is but Russell Square is east of the Arch.

Unfortunately I have no idea on Red's travel plans, she was going to go over the itinerary with the trip coordinator on the plane and ring me when she knew when she could meet up.

Is he in London? I thought he was elsewhere in the UK.

Dubh's in Scunthorpe just north of me. Thankfully we're both well out of harm's way up here.
May the joy of music be ever thine.

They're confirming fatalities now...
7, 21, and 5 on the three train explosions
unconfirmed numbers of fatalities for the bus, but definite fatalities

Thanks for the kind thought JES...but as John has stated we are a long way from London and like everybody else, are watching the TV and following Avs posts with great sadness.

How awful!

Glad all of you are ok . . . praying Redwolf is out of harm's way, as well.

They've opened all train (not tube) stations except for King's Cross and are urging people to get home (ideally before the rush hour). All riverboat services on the Thames are free and the congestion charge has been lifted.

On another board I go to, some people's workplaces have arranged cabs for them, and board members have set up a rideshare/houseshare for people who need to try to get home or can't get home and need a place to stay.

Fortunately all people who were trapped underground have been brought out.

And it's stopped raining.

Glad to hear it. :) I wasn't certain if you were in London or not. As others have already noted, this thing feels just like the 911 attacks. And like then, I have my heart in my throat and few words on my lips that aren't profane.... so sad. :(

I can't quite form the right words, either, other than to extend greatest sympathies to all there. I have many memories of riding the Tube in that area so I can visualize it. Not just the 2012, but the peak of tourist season, the G8, etc. etc... Many sad stories will emerge from this.
How do you prepare for the end of the world?
