So, I'm sitting here in Texas, learning to whistle and trying to absorb as much Irish culture as possible over the internet. Thanks to the global village, I can get Guiness here. But what about the REAL Irish culture? What do you drink when you need an Irish whiskey?

The Walrus
What would a wild walrus whistle if a walrus could whistle wild?
The second mouse may get the cheese but the presentation leaves a lot to be desired.

Jamesons or Bushmills for me... nobody in my area stocks Powers.
And stay away from the Guinness 'extra stout'... it's horrible stuff, and not even imported from Ireland.
The draught cans and the new draught bottles are great, though I prefer the cans because I pour mine into a pint glass.

Jameson Crested Ten (a nice blended Whiskey with a hint of Sherry almost tastes like a Congac) but I have not seen that for sale in the States my Dad brought back a bottle from Ireland good stuff that is for Whiskey regular Jameson is also good. Bailey's "Irish" Cream also but I don't know how Irish that actually is but it is good it is Whiskey based Cream liqueor with some Carmel flavor. I am an ametuer Bartender myself even though I am not legally allowed to be, but who cares?

Here here, Lagavulin is superb. I've yet to taste an Irish whisky that has the complexity and subtlety of the Best Scotch whiskies. Mind you, Jamesons is good value in the UK so should really be compared to blended scotch whiskies.amar wrote:scottish single malt whisky. no other.

Looking at those (admittedly wonderful) photos, you appear to be a non-drinker.
