The House of Commons voted 158-133 (Government, BQ, NDP vs. Conservatives and some members of the Government) to legalize same-sex marriage in Canada today.

Favour, they now have the same right to be miserable when the marriage breaks up as the straights, divorce lawyers are already packing the pubs in celebration!

Being a heterosexual American guy, I have no dog in this fight, really.

However, if I may borrow the words of the great Thomas Jefferson, allowing gays to marry neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg...I'm all for it if that's what they wanna do.

Even though from a religious stand point I veiw it is wrong but I think people should have the right to be wrong that is my philosophy.

Although, much as Avery pointed out, I believe marriage is essentially a religious institution. Here in the states, therefore, the govvy ought to re-read the establishment clause and let marriage be defined by churches howsoever they like.
