Disaster in New York!
Now this is news:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050622/ap_ ... e_disaster
Imagine recounting to the grandkids how you had to flee for higher ground on the day of the Great Popsicle Disaster of 2005.
I know. New Yorkers wear expensive shoes.

Beware of food disasters. Boston was the site of the Great Molasses Flood of 1919.

More importantly, oldtimers in Montreal still recall the day of the great Stanley Tavern beer flood.
The taps wouldn't shut off, and a valiant crew of old men were forced to attempt to drink the tavern dry, lest all that beer go to waste.

And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

Does anyone else remember the episode of WKRP in Cincinnati where they dropped frozen turkeys from a helicopter on a shopping mall parking lot for Thanksgiving?Fr Emmet wrote:This may be urban myth, but supposedly years ago a few weeks before Thanksgiving a semi hauling frozen turkeys overturned on the Cross Bronx Expressway (NYC), spilling turkeys all over the road and causing a riot.
