Best way to pull a thread OT

Post by I.D.10-t »

…and then to drag it kicking and screaming back on?
We have all tried to do both I am sure.

Hey I had one asking about stuff to do on Cape Cod but it turned into something about Bloomfeld or Dub.

Of course, I never threadjack. Never. Nyuk.

BTW, I agree 150%.

Not me. I've only hijacked. Sad, really. At least I try to limit my terrorist tendencies to the Pub. Maybe we need "thread marshalls" to secretly hang out in random threads and shoot down hijackers. :)

Edited to add: Oh yeah, I agree with you, too.

They did that...well golly. They must just be jealous of all the fun you're going to have and all those Brewskies!

And I agree with you also.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

Nah! Cynth didn't! Nano you might be better off screaming Oboe, French Horn etc rather than what you did scream, although Bodhran might get someones goat.

Best way to pull a thread back on topic is to ignore all the 'witty' posts and reply to the topic. When you get the info you need (even if its on the first page) stop reading. It really works because you stop caring if you get hijacked.

Some of thread drift is natural; we're having conversations and conversations move around a bit. But on every board there are people who have to say something, even if its not topical, just to put themselves out there. If it happened to you at the office coffee machine -- you're talking with someone about what you did over the weekend for instance -- and someone joins in with some inane comment or pun on the words you're using, or personal opinion on the moral correctness of your chosen weekend activity -- you might give them one of those weak grins and nods....then go straight back to your own conversation. Do the same on the board. Ignore the bait to exchange wittier-than-thou-isms; ignore the temptation to justify your opinions.

Unless the basis of the thread was such an exchange, of course!

Sincerely,
Tyg

Cell phone companies really tick me off. I have Centennial and we have 3 phones. It costs me 180+ bucks a month. Worse, my wife and I rarely use 5% of our minutes. Last month I went to Virginia and had 36 minutes of "roaming" time. In addition to the 36 minutes of long distance time I was charged a $1.00 per hour for roaming time.

Fortunately my wife's phone contract expires in September and we're canceling. Mine expires in December. Cancel!!!

When I can pay no more then $100 per month flat out for three phones I'll rethink the cell phone thing.

That's my threadjack.
I'm no longer trying a new posting paradigm
