75th birthday

Today is the 75th birthday of the Twinkie.

They can't be that good. Avanutria hasn't been bemoaning the fact that she can't get them over here.

That's cos I can - www.cybercandy.com - but I don't care for them. Hostess Devil Dogs, on the other hand, will be in my suitcase come June if they sell them in New England. I have to remember to put them on my list when I get home.

I actually brought a box of these back from the States last year.

Like most of the foodstuffs I tried, somehow they didn't seem half as appetising after I'd unpacked them as they had in the States, and eventually I threw the lot out. None of my work colleagues were very impressed with them either.

I'll bet that original Twinkie is still around too - you know that stuff doesn't have a shelf-life, it has a half-life!!!

(don't EVER try the "low fat" Twinkies - those are NASTY!)

I'm fairly certain longevity experiments have been performed with good, but disconcerting, results

Duh. I feel so stupid.

I somehow didn't notice Beth's links, and I thought Twinkie was a person.

I don't know if I've ever eaten those or not. I probably did when I was younger.

Hmm, I've never microwaved a twinkie. I have seen firsthand what happens to a microwaved egg, though. When we got our first microwave my mom insisted on trying it out because she heard that the egg would explode. It did.
