Best whistle to leave on the subway - on purpose...
My vote goes to the Acorn, followed closely by an untweaked Generation.

I have an untweaked Gen that sits in my back pocket for just such a reason.

I gave away my Dixon tuneable (not the brass slide model) because we didn't have any subways in Salinas.
It was way out of tune with itself. However, it must have just been a fluke, because I've since heard one that sounded excellent, and several Chiffers like them a lot.
If I couldn't have gotten Whitecaps for them, the same would have happened to my Feadog and Oak. In those, it was the ugly, raspy squawks that would have done it.

Either an Alba or Overton.....LOL, just kidding of course, hey its a Monday. Actually I would probably leave a Generation just because even with them Tweaked they just don't carry the sound I care for.

I take it these are all whistles you'd rather NOT have :p
Feadog has been on my list as 'whistles I want to get' and unfortunately Acorn is one I have. It can be a pain in the neck to play sometimes because they are so sensitive -- I can go into the upper octave without much effort.

So was mine, I think I got a bad whistle I did try a friend's and it sounded great so I might try getting one again in the future.Entropy wrote:Walton's Mellow D. The one I have is atrocious.

I think that boat has sailed for me. I might give the little black D a try if I ever run across one, but I don't see buying another mellow D.
