Why not send in a tune or two to Clips and Snips? I'd enjoy listening to your Boisvert C set, fourth drone and all.mukade wrote:It's a G drone.PJ wrote:Mukade,
The mystery 4th drone is what (A, G, ...) ?
I have some mp3s on my voice recorder.
I'll try to find somewhere to host them.

Maybe you need to close the drones down a bit. I personally do not like big honkin drones or regs that drown out the chanter. Some people love them. I went with Joe Kennedy's set because the chanter is medium bore, but the drones and regs are small bore, so they don't get too loud for my tastes, and the blend stays sweet.wolvy wrote:Mine are kinda loud and tend to overpower my chanter

I'd rather be atop the foothills than beneath them.

Drone configuration
I play an unkeyed chanter - so most of my tunes are in key of D or G ..
I don't care for the sound of regulators
I love deep-sounding drones
On my other types of bagpipes , 2 drones playing at a time sounds fine to me
Wouldn't tunes played in the key G sound better with G-drones instead of the standard Uillean arrangement of 3 x D drones ?
What do you think of a 4-drone configuration consisting of
D-bass , d-baritone G bass , g-baritone ? Two drones would play at a time while the other two would be be off... shut-offs in the bell ends or corks to stop them.

Shoot, why not go for 7.1 Surround Sound, and top it all off with a built-in digeridoo.
Wild Goose Studios Music, reed making and pipe making.
