Currently , I have 8 different makers. Clarkes , Jerry-tweaked Shaws ,
Walton Mello Ds , Burkes , Greenwood/Boisvert , Humphreys , Copelands , and Overtons . Geez , looking at some of the other's lists , my case of WhOA isn't all that bad !! May have to start looking for some more whistles.
Have a Great Day and Fun Whistling !!

At one point at least, I suspect that JessieK would have beaten Dale. I seem to remember a picture of all of Jessie's instruments...it looked like she had 5 of every kind.Henke wrote:It would be nice if Dale joined in her and told us how many brands he has. I've got a feeling he can hardly count them all.

Abell, Burke, Copeland, Sindt, O'Riordan, Schulttz (Water and Thin Weasels), Busman, Dixon, Hoover, Serpent, Humphrey, Syn, Susato, Kerry, Silkstone, O'Briain, Alba, Elfsong, Clarke (originals and Sweetones), Shaw, Soodlum, Walton, Generation, Perri, Faedog, Clare, Eagle, Harper, Sweet, Tully, Parkhurst...
Used to have Cook, Overton, Grinter, Howard, Seery...
Need to get back an Overton - preferably some killer tuneable low E, because I've never had that key of any whistle and because no bona fide whistle collection lacks an Overton.

Forgot Doolin, Oak

I only have a Walton's right now, but when I gain more experience I'd like to try out some different brands. The tough part about buying whistles is that you can't try them out in a store until you find a good one, it's more pot luck I suppose.
Does anyone have a favorite whistle dealer/shop?

- Tell us something.: I play whistles. I sell whistles. This seems just a BIT excessive to the cause. A sentence or two is WAY less than 100 characters.
I have had the best luck buying directly from board members. There are only a couple of whisle makers that I have gotten them directly from. I don't remember getting any from a store.stratochicnic wrote:Does anyone have a favorite whistle dealer/shop?

Dixon (1 with tuning slide) this gets played the most
Bamboo cheapo (not in tune even with itself)
plus one simple system piccolo (Sweet rosewood), an unkeyed Dixon polymer flute, then my prize beastie - Lehart 5 Key in D and 2 silver flutes....
