Well, we were raised on peanut butter and Welch's grape jelly and we are truly a very deprived people in my opinion.

Man, I miss Devon. On vacation, we were averaging two cream teas a day.....You have to drive to the next village but who cares....
Scones and cream for afternoon tea Weeks, crumpets (and tea) for supper. Everything in its place and a place for (almost) everything.

The place for fish fingers is the rubbish bin.

I have more than a faint suspicion that you are the only one so far who does.

I'm not a Brit but what about either black currant jam or Lyle's Golden Syrup?
mike

the gooseberry jam is good too. Trader Joe's has a good Blueberry jam; (I like the non-organic version better.)

Cynth mentioned the welch's jelly and p-nut butter and that is sad to be sure but it reminded me of my strange liking for marmalade and p-nut butter sandwiches. I don't like most American marmalades, too sweet, but the safeway select is pretty good. A little like Hartley's. Can you still get that in the UK? I haven't seen it over here in years.
I'd rather have scons over crumpets any day too.

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, mmm, yes marmalade is still available this end of the woods, my big bro lives in Leicester, and the stuff they have there is great. Safeways brand is changing to Morrisons here in Belfast, dont know what its doing across the water.

Away to make a nice bit of toast and cheese....

night night.

marie, well I meant the Hartley's brand of marmalade- it had a slightly tapered bottle, what do you call it, like a meg whistle. ---Safeway has 2 brands here, the safeway brand which is not that great and then the safeway select which is better. Supposedly they sometimes have other makers for the select brand and then they stick their 'select' label on it. As far as the marmalade goes, and the select jams as well, it's good.

Hi Miwokhill---Haven't seen you around for awhile. Did you get the new fiddle? I saw you selling your whistles. I'll have to try peanut butter and marmalade. I like marmalade and we just got some in a cute little jar----it's the jars and labels that get me to buy.
