Blaming Bush for recorders? Wow, I've never heard of that one... and to be fair it was no child left behind, not no recorder left behind.

Fair? No, not really, but blame Bush anyway. He would have done it if he had thought of it.

Quit trying to politicize this guys! We must think about the children! If budget cuts keep kids safe from recorders I'm all for the budget cuts.

Remember folks...this is CALIFORNIA Educator. So, let's place the blame squarely where it belongs. On the head of The Governator (TM).

Yes it's time to end polarity and come together to end this recorder madness festering within our public schools.

Hmmm...as a novice at the pipes, I don't know what to say, other than the pipes are a unique cultural artifact, and the r*c*rd*r is not. Both can be used to evil ends. But so can flute and whistle, for that matter. Perhaps the minimum age of fourteen should be the cuttoff point for the UP forum. One doesn't want to start too late, as I am doing, all advice and wisdom to the contrary.

required...

I'd think that a sense of esthetics, above average intelligence and a physiological profile for the playing of the pipes.

I am against disallowing anyone the right to read most anything. The difficulty is teaching someone when to shut up and listen.

I knew I was going to get in trouble, no matter which forum I named!
