Re: wait times...
Half-set waiting time was about 12 months or a bit less. Ordenerd mine in late October and picked it up in late August the following year.Davey wrote:Marc v. Daal.. ??

Contact Brad Angus directly to understand what time commitment is possible as orders from folks change all the time.John Dally wrote:Ray Sloan has a relatively short wait list too.
Don't know if there is any truth to it, but I was told recently that Brad Angus' wait list was several years long.
Every pipemaker has a waiting list; every pipemaker changes the list from time to time; items are sometimes available when orders change/fall through; sometimes orders can be expedited due to a client's special needs.
The waiting list system suits a lot of people since it can effectively be a long term savings project. Geoff and Alain's long lists turned it into a "I wonder if I'll be alive when the order comes up."

Quicktime...
Hey DavidG...
In reference to how fast one can turn a chanter. One can certainly make a chanter in a matter of hours, one that will play nearly right away. But just because one CAN do something, does not mean one SHOULD do it. Sure, I COULD run through the streets of St. Paul huck naked reciting the Jabberwocky at the top of my lungs with a French accent, but that doesn't mean it SHOULD be done
Most chanters / most woods generally need more than one reaming until the bore settles down tro consistent i.d. measurements. I wouldn't want a chanter that was "fresh" off the lathe.

After reading this, part of my peanut butter sandwhich (and most of my milk) found itself on my monitor screen.... after having first gone through my nostrils............Davey wrote:Sure, I COULD run through the streets of St. Paul huck naked reciting the Jabberwocky at the top of my lungs with a French accent, but that doesn't mean it SHOULD be done
