POLL: Pick my next whistle contest! :)

Post by alespa »

I can't decide between the New Aluminum (DABST) or Brass (DBBST) Burke. So I'm giving everyone the day to cast their vote for either brass or aluminum. I'll be posting this on other boards, and tallying up the total. Tomorrow morning, I'll check the votes (around 8am Pacific) and post the winning material.

Of course the winner of the contest will be me, but won't it be fun to see which tube gets the most votes? (secret: the brass is the best selling of the two, so you aluminum heads have to really get with it here to win :)

see ya tomorrow,
matt

Hey, what's this with the limited choice? I'd picked out a Colin Goldie low C# for you which you could sell to me when you discovered it wasn't much use in sessions. :P

Tell us something.: I used to be a regular then I took up the bassoon. Bassoons don't have a lot of chiff. Not really, I have always been a drummer, and my C&F years were when I was a little tired of the drums. Now I'm back playing drums. I mist the C&F years, though.

I have a brass and love it. Jessie usully recommends the brass. However, a really terrific whistler, who uses Burkes, prefers the aluminum as he says it's brigter and faster (more responsive).

My next D Burke is going to be the narrow bore aluminum

Just buy both and sell the one you don't prefer. I'd probably just keep both. Can't have too many whistles. :P

The brass is pulling ahead here, but dead even on the other board ??

Is it possible for someone to vote more than once? I noticed I can't vote :)

Even though I have been whistling for only about a year, I am fortunate to have both of Mike’s new Aluminum and Brass Soprano D Session whistles. Each is a fine instrument, but I play the Aluminum more often because it is lighter (although other C&Fers say that they like the heft of the brass), it doesn’t need to be polished (I cannot help but keep the brass one polished), and its second register and beyond seems to play easier and sound good at a quieter volume than the brass. The brass has its own fine qualities, and I do not want to be without both.

Voted aluminum as per your request, matt --- but I don't think it's going to help. You'll be stuck with the brass, poor fellow.
