CorpSec Blocks C&F

Post by GaryKelly »

It's true. I can't get into the main website any more:

Category: The Websense category for this site is "Adult Content" is filtered, and is blocked.
URL: http://www.chiffandfipple.com/

Corporate Security. Sigh. Does anyone know what's changed on the front page that might trigger the net nannies? Last time I looked there was just a big W...

And since when has there ever been any adult content around here?

:(

We'll try and keep things as juvenile as possible.

Ta. I can access this forum fine, but the main website... adult content indeed. What's Dale been up to?

If they've just upgraded or tweaked the settings on your software it might have picked up on the following headline on the second page (my italics):
Chiff and Fipple Investigative Report on a product that musically abuses children.
It's been there a while and is actually about a naff whistle set marketed at kids but I don't suppose the software can figure that out.
May the joy of music be ever thine.

I'm using Safari here at home and have no problem accessing our illustrious mani website.

There is a headline in part that states "giving up the love." I'm wondering if it's that four letter word in quotes that is causing the problem. You know how spernickity the FCC is these days.

My work situation is just the opposite. I can view the main C&F website, but this discussion board is blocked.

For the longest time I could access C & F from work, then they added a new type of Firewall that would not allow access to any sites connected to entertainment. After several complaints that we were not even allowed to look at the local weather through our local news, they made some adjustments.

I can suggest that if you try to take a backdoor approach as to use a search engine to gain access, this may work instead of going directly to the site itself.

I used to have no problem either, but now websense is classifing the site as adult content, which is naturally blocked a government sites. Perhaps Dale can contact them to find out what they are find exceptional or if it a error in classification.

P.S. Edit: I just went to the WWW.Websense.com site and suggested that they have miss classified the site. It has always been family friendly. I further suggested that they contact Dale Wisely who owns the site if they find anything with which they take exception. I did have to register with the site. It could be that their seach engine / classification has a list of words to look for including some miss-spellings so ChiffandFipple might hit and exception for ???????n??ipple. The request will hopefully have some one take a closer look and see that its a regular site and not "adult Content". Feel free to add your requests, maybe they'll make a quicker response if enough people complain about the error in classification.

It's probably our "Flute lichen" thread over in the flute forum that's causing all these problems :D

i have a solution that gets around most blockers.

Go to www.world.altavista.com and type the url into the box there, select an option from the list and click translate.

It translates all the words from the language you selected into english. as well as showing you the page you want.

school keep banning good games sites and i use this alot

Well it's obvious. Dale has openly expressed his dislike of the current administration. Websense has a government contract. Ergo......
I'm no longer trying a new posting paradigm
