Tell us something.: Been a fluter, citternist, and uilleann piper; committed now to the way of the harp.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

Guess you're not just another pretty face, Jos... very nice!

Also like that fancy stuff in the Cuimhnean Phiobaire.

How many years does that account for?

That chanter sounds great! Are the drones by Boisvert as well? Really impressive!

About a year and a half on Uilleann...but 20+ on GHB.

The Chanter is by Mr. David Boisvert, the drones are by Mr. Pak Istani. :D They're solid drones and have always worked exceedingly well.

Joseph, I'm curious...what kind of reed set-up are you using in your drone's? I've got a half set of Sialkot nightmare's biodegrading in my closet, and I wish they sounded better. It might even be worthwhile to remove the big glob of solder blocking the bass drone connector. :D

John, I've just switched out a set of homemade composite reeds that I made (which were stable and but not very loud) to a set of David Boisvert's composite reeds which give my drones a really rich buzz, without being overbearing. They're excellent reeds that took little or no time in adjusting to my set. The reeds on the recording are David's.

Hey Joeseph-

Thought I'd chime in with some praise for the clips too. They sounded quite good. They kind of poked at my impatience though, for I'm awaiting my own Greenwood Pipes D chanter, come December or January or some such. Also, pretty cool picture. I don't think I'll be able to pull off the ass-kickin' belt buckle though... not with my bare-footed hippy haircut :D

You mean all this time I've been playing drones with holes drilled up the middle of them and you're telling me you can get a better sound with solid drones?? :D

BTW, what equipment did you record your toons on Joseph? The chanter sound great. Do you think Boisvert's composite reed could work in my Lambe drones (they've got holes drilled up the middle of 'em though).

Cheers,

Hey, good sounds there Joe. I like the way you're able to find the upper A from a start in that one tune.
