Who are you?

Post by BillChin »

Who are you? What is it that identifies you? This is not intended as a survey for people to fill in the blanks. It is to see how people identify themselves, describe themselves. I suspect that most people will have more than one strong answer, and several that mean nothing to them.

Here are the poll options with examples.

Profession - I am a bus driver, nurse, bricklayer
Leisure activities - I’m a musician, a runner, beanie baby collector
Regional geography - I’m a Berliner, a Montana-native
Race/tribe - I’m a Cherokee, a Sunni. The line with this and nation is blurry.
Nation - I’m an American, an Ecuadorian, a Russian.
Religion or primary belief system - Atheist, Buddhist, Christian, Muslim
A living being, some will separate sentient beings out, some may not.
A spiritual being, much more than an organized bundle of molecules.
You doubt your own existence. (I think not, poof, I disappear :))

I’m sure I missed quite a few, and my examples are not intended to offend, though I am sure that some may.

Hmmm.

Interesting question. I would say, "None of the above" and "All of the above." It sort of whirls. I suspect universes emerge from the whirling.

Best wishes,
Jerry

I picked "profession," even though I'm not paid at present...actually it's what's called, in astrology, a "social role," which is more or less the function one fills in a particular lifetime. Obviously, all of the choices are to some extent things anyone would relate to.
I tend to be least interested in geographical or ethnic identifiers.

Great topic, although not very good for a poll. I'm partly with Jerry and partly with Walden. I would say first, not by a whole bunch, would be family. Profession, hobbies, geographic heritage, all are right up there, though.

Oh, and BTW, I thought it was one of the crappiest songs the Who ever did.

The details of my existence tend to be highly variable, but I find that hedonism, albeit sometimes of a rather skewed variety, is the governor of my existence.

well thank you! I've never been told that I've done a good job crooning....I'd say just call me Bing, but for one, I'm female, and secondly, I just don't have those ears.... :P
