I think eBay does this as a publicity stunt. Look at all the news coverage they got as a consequence of pulling it off, then putting it back on. Seems they did the same thing last year with that guy from Seattle who was selling his ex-wife's wedding dress. This morning there were about 400,000 views of the grilled cheese sandwich, now there's been something like 800,000 views on the counter.

I see faces in things all the time. I've even seen some that good, but never thought of taking a picture and puting it on eBay. I will from now on. If anyone sees some good illusions in a slice of nutcake, please let me know.

The company e-mailed Diana Duyser to tell her that the sandwich listing was against its policy, which "does not allow listings that are intended as jokes."

But Duyser insisted she was serious, and on Tuesday, eBay allowed the bidding to resume. The auction closes on Nov. 22.

Tell us something.: I play whistles. I sell whistles. This seems just a BIT excessive to the cause. A sentence or two is WAY less than 100 characters.

There was a picture of a fruitcake that has a face in our newspaper today. She claims she has a sandwich with the image of the Virgin Mary on it!

Edited to add: HEY! That's the fruitcake I saw with the face!!! thanks Nano.

Those hats are fantastic! I would love to have them just to wear :) And how wonderful that you can actually sew...I've always wanted to, but I could never seem to get it right when I would try. The seams would always pucker, or I'd forget to look, and end up not sewing the other piece of fabric. SIGH! Maybe someday.
You're going to have to get pictures of yourself in your getup and post them!!! I would love to see it :)

Expert explains grilled cheese ``miracle'
By CAROLYN THOMPSON
Associated Press Writer

November 17, 2004, 3:53 PM EST

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Brace yourself. There may be a less-than-miraculous explanation for that image of the Virgin Mary a Florida woman says appeared in her grilled cheese sandwich.

Professional skeptic Joe Nickell says it's the same phenomenon that lets people see ships in the clouds, butterflies in ink blots and the man on the moon.

"It's just the human ability to make images out of randomness," said Nickell, investigative columnist for Skeptical Inquirer magazine and senior research fellow of the Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal.

"The images are called simulacra, from the root word meaning similar. And the mental habit that causes us to see such things is called pareidolia," he said. -source

1)Do you see a young girl or old lady? 2)Do you see a face or the word LIAR?

1) I see a hot fudge sundae melting in a spring meadow. 2) I see a piece of chocolate cake with swirls of whipped cream. --- But if I hold the image at arms length while standing to the side and squinting through my bad eye then it says, "EAT AT JOES."

 Excuse me while I grab a snack out of the fridge.

This auction made it into yesterday's issue of the Metro paper here.

I liked the part about it being ten years old and never gone mo(u)ldy. Behold the power of superprocessed American cheese food product.

A couple years ago we had the virgin visit a brick wall on the side of a Tim Horton's, just outside Sidney, Cape Breton. People from across the continent came to get a look.

All of this reminds me a little of when The National Enquirer posted a photograph of what they claimed to be Satan's skull. The accompanying article claimed the photo was proof that Beelzebub had in fact walked the earth and lived in Arizona where the skull was found.

I thought the image looked like someone had fashioned horns from play-dough and squished them to the temples of a dog's skull. I didn't want to appear as a nonbeliever so I kept my doubt to myself.

This "Virgin Mary" looks suspiciously like Marilyn Monroe to me.
