D - Serpent Sweet Polly, Syn, and tweaked Generation red-top. Dixon and Oak get some play, too.

C - Walton's. Syn occasionally (I just got the C tube)

Bb - Syn, Chieftain, Dixon

I like them all, but if I could only play ONE whistle (of those I own) all of the time, it'd probably by the Serpent Sweet Polly D.

I'm most likely to play something new on that one too.

Sindt D and a muted Clare D. My Humpfrey NB D is on loan to a friend who owns probably $10,000 worth of button boxes, uillian pipes, flutes, fiddles, etc. but doesn't own a decent whistle. FJohnSharp, you know who.

Tell us something.: I used to be a regular then I took up the bassoon. Bassoons don't have a lot of chiff. Not really, I have always been a drummer, and my C&F years were when I was a little tired of the drums. Now I'm back playing drums. I mist the C&F years, though.

My favourite has been my Dixon tunable D, ever since I got it for my birthday earlier this year.

Funny, but last night I was thinking of starting a thread about after all these years of collecting and playing and experimenting and learning, if you had no whistles, which would you go out and buy now to really play every day. My list, in order:

Burke Black Tip D
Abell delrin D
Copeland Eflat
O'Riordan Traveler G
Copeland G
Abell Blackwood Bflat
Burke Viper
Sindt C
I should probably sell the rest.

If I had to pick just one, it would be the Burke Black Tip.

I play all of the ones I have from time to time. Most played are Alba Q1, Hoover whitecap/Oak, untweaked Generation D, and Walton's Mellow D. These are all D. In other keys Dixon G, Gen Bb, Gen C. Least played Clarke original and Sweetone.

Most wanted Humphrey, Sweetheart laminate and Busman.

The three I play the most are my Humphrey wide bore D (just intonation),
Busman Kingwood in D, and a Burke pro session D with black tip. (Brass)

But the one I play the most is the Humphrey. It is something special! :D
(As are the others.) :)

The ones I reach for the most these days are my Burke Pro Session (brass/black tip), my Busman kingwood, and a little white Hoover PVC (which has become by "by the computer") whistle. Oh yes, and the Sweetheart Pro for outdoor play. I enjoy rotating, though...sometimes just picking up a whistle I haven't played in a while and enjoying rediscovering it.

I thought I was over WhOA, having met what I think may just be the ultimate whistle in my Burke, but I tried a Syn at the NorCal gathering last weekend and couldn't resist at that price, so I've got one of those coming to me as well!

My favourite is a Sweetheart D. It is not a laminate. I got it in London in 1993. Its maple thru and thru. What is the proper label for it? Anyone?

I think it's just a "Sweetheart D." The "Professional" model comes in birch laminate and rosewood.
