Re: OT: TRIVIA QUESTION
Darn, you guys are good! I really thought I could keep this thing going until tomorrow, but now the jig is up. Someone got the correct answer, but I'm not going to say who just yet. I want to use the hint that I was saving for last, because I think it's so darn witty.

Final Hint: Jim Morrison probably had one in his pocket when he died. (Actually, there are two hints here.)Will O'B wrote: Question: What was the Number 1 Christmas present that was given to adult friends and co-workers in the early 1960's?

So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!

Before emmline posted, I thought that Carol had posted a second time with "cigarette lighter", but when I got off the phone and looked again her second post was gone. Carol must have deleted it for some reason.
I knew when you guys started zeroing in on cigarette accessories that the game was all but over. I find that many people have forgotten about those large cigarette lighters that used to adorn coffee tables and desks forty years ago. And then there were also the more sleek models that went into the pocket or purse (and were sometimes engraved).
I don't recall what hints I used to give to that question, but some of the answers that I routinely got were: LPs (phonograph records), jewelry (cuff links, tie clips, i.d. bracelets, watches - - because of the engraving hint), cigarettes, liquor, candy, (this was the first time fruit cake showed up, but it was a good answer), wallets, boxer shorts (?), neckties, transistor radios.
You would have all been great panelists on What's My Line or I've Got A Secret.

You're right. I just felt I was being a little, um, overzealous about trying to get the answer right. An affliction of mine. Will O'B wrote:Before emmline posted, I thought that Carol had posted a second time with "cigarette lighter", but when I got off the phone and looked again her second post was gone. And Happy Birthday to Mrs. O'B!
