Hobgoblin Uilleann Practice Pipes
Really tempted to splurge on these:

I've got a whistle and flute addiction to pay for really, but for only £180 - can't go wrong, can I?
Give me the low down, guys. I'm probably never going to pay £700 for a proper set but I could just flush the cash down the toilet, would that be less painful in the long run?

They're shight.
That chanter would be useful for unblocking toilets, thats about all though. You would get yourself a fine practise set from David Daye for that money or for a few dollars more, Pat Sky would make you a fine set too.
If you went to pipe-makers in the US you'll get very good value for money because of the exchange rate between Sterling and the Dollar.

David Daye website I've found - there's a lot of reading to be done there isn't there? Can someone point me to a Pat Sky website or details of his pipes, please?tompipes wrote: You would get yourself a fine practise set from David Daye for that money or for a few dollars more, Pat Sky would make you a fine set too.
Exchange rates do help but bank transfers or dollar cheques work out expensive, I find. Credit card or paypal's cool though.
Thanks so far..... is there more?

I'm quite happy, glands, so I seldom have much to say anymore. I'll get some pictures together, and sound clips. I've got the set going pretty much like I want. Took them out for their first concert at Whitman College Hall of Music the other day and opened a 50 minute set with Johnny Cope/Delahunty's HPs. No problems on their first date, and believe it or not, our fiddler doesn't have to retune for B. She just slides her hand to another position (no open strings) and plays just the same as before.
Ahhh, but what a difference to be in Bee.

Hey, it's looking good.
I reckon I can get a Daye practice set with the chanter upgraded to delrin, including shipping costs for only about 25% more than the aforementioned 'shoite'. Bit of a bummer he doesn't take credit cards or paypal though, a bank transfer will cost another $40.
The Sky set would be nice, having an ebony chanter, but it means it costs a fair bit more, and the children complain so when they go hungry!
Just got the small matter of a flute purchase to deal with right now and I'll be seeing about placing an order.
Thanks again

Hold on a minute Nick... His practice sets are £800! We've taken a bit of a jump there!gandalfouille wrote:You can go to see Marcus Coulter. He is in Birmingham. Nick
I didn't know he existed though, so thanks for the info.
What you said about 2nd hand was interesting, Boyd.
