IT'S RAINING HERE

Post by Will O'B »

It's raining here. I know this because I can hear Kaylee the dog's tags tinkling and her fur vigorously slapping as she shakes herself off downstairs. We seem to be getting a lot of rain this fall for some reason -- summer was pretty dry around these parts. The shaking has stopped and now her nails are clicking across the kitchen floor, followed by that bounding noise which only a dog or an exuberant child can make as she rushes up the stairs to where I'm sitting. Her tail happily whaps my desk as she skirts around the corner of the room and then flops heavily at my feet with a muffled sigh. Ah-h-h . . . the smell of wet dog . . .

Raining here too. I know because I just got wet coming in from the car, my umbrella conveniently located inside.
I'm no longer trying a new posting paradigm

Sunshine here in Savannah and in the 80's. But the rain that is in Atlanta will be here tonight along with cooler temperatures. Oh well, it is November after all.

From "A Rainy Night In Georgia". I don't remember who did the version that I'm thinking of . . . don't think it was Ray Charles, though.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

Maybe Gladys KNight & the Pips? Brook Benton? Willie Nelson- nah, you would remember if it's his version you were thinking of.

Central New Jersey . . .rain.

But not to fret. I have my sunshine conure sitting right next to me on her T-stand, cheering me up as I type. I got the mail earlier and missed the rain. Thank goodness. I got my Amazon shippment in today. First season of Angel . . . for $14.99! $14.99!!! Did anyone else catch the sale Amazon was having on first season DVDs? I must of caught it at the end, I placed my order, and the next day, the sale was finished.
I sing the birdie tune
It makes the birdies swoon
It sends them to the moon
Just like a big balloon

Brook Benton -- that's it. I just couldn't think of the name. Thanks, Tom. Brook's voice, the music and lyrics all combine to give me goosebumps.

"Rainy Night in Georgia"
(Words and Music by Tony Joe White)

Hoverin' by my suitcase, tryin' to find a warm place to spend the night
Heavy rain fallin', seems I hear your voice callin' "It's all right."
A rainy night in Georgia, a rainy night in Georgia
It seems like it's rainin' all over the world
I feel like it's rainin' all over the world

Neon signs a-flashin', taxi cabs and buses passin' through the night
A distant moanin' of a train seems to play a sad refrain to the night
A rainy night in Georgia, such a rainy night in Georgia
Lord, I believe it's rainin' all over the world
I feel like it's rainin' all over the world

How many times I wondered
It still comes out the same
No matter how you look at it or think of it
It's life and you just got to play the game

(instrumental interlude)

I find me a place in a box car, so I take my guitar to pass some time
Late at night when it's hard to rest I hold your picture to my chest and I feel fine
But it's a rainy night in Georgia, baby, it's a rainy night in Georgia I
feel it's rainin' all over the world, kinda lonely now And it's rainin' all over the world

Oh, have you ever been lonely, people?
And you feel that it was rainin' all over this man's world
You're talking 'bout rainin', rainin', rainin', rainin', rainin', rainin', rainin',
rainin', rainin' rainin', rainin', rainin' etc. to end
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.
