dog pictures

Post by Jack »

I know this could have gone in the cutie pie thread, but I didn't want it to. Don't sue me.

Here are pictures of the dogs who share my life. None of them are actually mine, though. They belong to family members, friends, and neighbors, and I'm just the insane person who takes pictures of them all the time.

This is Booger, one of my brothers' dogs, after she rolled around in the mud and wanted me to pick her up.

Image

This is my uncle's one eyed dog, Lil Bit. He looks harmless, but he will eat you alive.
Image

And so will this dog, Red, who belongs to another uncle.
Image

Joker, also one of my brothers' dogs, and Booger again.
Image

Booger, yet again, after she came home and got all the mud washed (and licked) off her back.
Image

This is my neighbors' dog, Sugar. She likes to come over and play with Joker and Booger sometimes. They tear the house apart, as you can see.
Image

Sugar, again. She goes walking with us every day.
Image

This is my aunt's dog, Star. She weighs 90 pounds and likes to sit on your lap and lick you.

I love that picture of Sugar. :)

I would take some of the cats, but there are about 40, and I don't want any of them to feel left out. :)

Nice looking dogs. And nice photos too, Cranberry.

I'm wondering why Lil Bit and Red would want to eat anyone alive? Were they trained to be aggressive? Maybe for protection?

Sorry Cran, I couldn't resist...it was the evil-looking camera eye glare that made me do it.

They're both snippy little dogs. If you leave them alone, they're fine, but I think they're just cats on the inside.

Ya' gotta love that tongue flying out all over the place. Great photo! Here's my little (or not) boyo, Squeegee. He's three and a half, and a real sweetie.....uh...if he knows you that is. He's been through a lot, including a lightening stike while seated in my lap....a long story here...but came through it (as did I) with health in tact for the most part.

I really love this dog!

This is us relaxing on Sanibel Island:

Yup. It's the red hair (what's left of it that isn't turning white) and the fair skin.....but at least my arms have lots and lots of freckles to more than make up for it. :P

Just to answer a possible trivia question in your future...that reflectiveness is caused by a membrane in the back of the dog's eye called a tapetum. It's highly reflective, usually giving off a blue to green glow when lit, designed to make the best of very low light, allowing dogs, cat's and other non-humans to be able to see a good bit better than we in the dark. A pretty cool thing to have in one's arsenal of 'special things' if you ask me. :)

Actually it's my parents who have the standard poodles. Not much of a challenge to figure out my favorite breed, now, is it? Like any happenin' pup, my cutie-pie, Miss Fergie, has her own web page (its tough to do without opposable thumbs, but scotties are tenacious) and I just can't resist the chance to share it: Image

Standard Poodles are indeed a tremendous companion dog. I just wish their hair cuts (..uh...the ones done to show them in the ring) were a little less disproportionate....but that cut is designed to serve a speciffic function...to maintain steady body temperature over the vital organs while in the water. What most folks do not realize, Poodles are 'working dogs' whose job requires them to be swimming a bunch of the time...any time of the year.
