Does anyone go in the chat room anymore?

Post by spittin_in_the_wind »

I have to admit to wandering far afield on this one, too. But, for quite a while, it seems everytime I've checked there is either no one in there or maybe 1 person. I was just wondering....it would be nice to visit sometime.

I think there's more activity in the evening...and the problem for Easterners (US) is that we really have to be night owls to catch the busy time.

I have never been in any chat room and wouldn't even know how to do it.

We used to get up to 20 folks in the chat room, and most evenings there were 7 or 8 at a time, but it seems to have slowed w-a-a-y down the last few months. When I check now, there are never more than two people. People's lives got busy, I guess.

I've heard of talking to yourself . . . but this is ridiculous. :D

Tell us something.: From the land beyond beyond. From the time past hope and fear. I bid you, Genie, now appear! Well, the Genie did not appear but the notification to type at least 100 characters did so I am back and typing some more as you, if anyone actually sees this, can probably tell.

Well, I am ridiculous in or out of the chatroom but when I am there by myself I usually spend the time fluting as I wait for others to arrive rather than talking to myself. I have more than ample opportunity for the latter during the course of a typical day.

Chat attendance has been rather variable lately and you can seldom predict the time that may see increased activity.

I go in there some times when I can't sleep.

For people who aren't familiar with the chat, "gh" means "f" and it's an entirely off-topic room.

Most of the time, we discuss food.

There are usually chatters in the following time frame.

Central Time Zone (North America--also Jamaica, Colombia & Peru) 10:00 P.M.-3:00 A.M.
U.K. & Ireland 4:00-9:00 A.M.
Philippines/H.K./Singapore 11:00 A.M.-4:00 P.M. (Japan an hr. later)
Eastern Time Zone (North America) 11:00 P.M.-4:00 A.M.
Pacific Time Zone (North America) 8:00 P.M.-1:00 A.M.
Mountain Time Zone (North America) 9:00 P.M.-2:00 A.M.
Sydney, Australia 1:00-6:00 P.M.

These are approximations... no guarantees.

Well..I for one confess...I am in the chatroom just about every night for several hours..but usually after 11 pm Ontario Canada time. The usual diehards are there too..Alan, Eld, Walden to name a few. Would love to see more people come in and miss those that used to come in more often.
And yes, Joannie Madden has come in to chat a few times too. (verified)
And yes, we talk about food fairly often..and politics and genealogy and the weather and have the occasional squaredance and once I think we talked about whistles...and maybe flutes too...oh, and pipes and fiddles and new tunes we were learning and embouchures and rolls came up a time or two..and , and...well come see for yourself..:)
What was the recipe for cornbread again Walden?

I am often in the chatroom between 7 and 9 am (GMT!) whenever I have time. Sometimes I would like to chat in the evening between 6 and 9 pm (GMT again), but all I can do at that hour is a virtual monologue ;)
