John, apologies for the delay in replying, I've not been well of late
Are there any half-decent hotels in the vicinity? I'd probably want to take a couple of days off, come up on the Friday, and maybe bimble back to Swindon on the Sunday or Monday, make a weekend break of it.

Yes, it's a long way from the suburbs of Edinburgh to Manchester...GaryKelly wrote:John, apologies for the delay in replying, I've not been well of late

Bloomfield: I thought that you got sooo tired when travelling to, uh, do anything? You would fly to the UK to play a whistle, but.....?Bloomfield wrote:Yes, it's a long way from the suburbs of Edinburgh to Manchester...GaryKelly wrote:John, apologies for the delay in replying, I've not been well of late

As far as hotels go, not so posh that any ladies I might meet will go "Gor blimey, 'e's a real toff an' no mistake!" like they did in Whitechapel when I lodged there for a mere 2 and six a night. But not so unposh that you have to share space with that gadger from the front cover of Tull's Aqualung album, like that time I spent in Tower Hamlets (but we won't go into that).
Blimey. If Becky's gonna be there with her pipes I'll leave my instruments at home and just bring plenty of batteries for my recorder (and a towel to mop up the drool!).
Bloomie, I'm much better thanks, apart from the dregs of a hacking cough which is making it impossible to play whistles and flutes. Probably a flashback to that time in Tower Hamlets...
Cor! Looks like this could be a rather splendid gathering!

PS Would you be the John who graces the streets of Manchester with the rousing Skirl of the GHB's?

Sorry about increasingly-frequent forays on to lists other than those where I truly belong....
Are we talking just whistlers here? How about harmonica players?? My mum and dad live in Radcliffe, and I always come up for a weekend a few weeks before Christmas....
Cheers!

Sorry, me again, if I do manage to get the childcare sorted, I may treat myself to a weekend of retail therapy as well! I have friends near Manchester, but quite fancy doing the hotel thing and making a weekend of it, so if you do find a local hotel can you post the details on the board? I don't fancy the Jethro Tull hotel either! A nice little B&B with ensuite Jacuzzi , multi gym, and chocolates on the pillows would be good! (Joke)
