Three Baby Ducks

Post by Daniel_Bingamon »

Last night, we got home and three duck eggs in our incubator started hatching. The eggs had been transfered from my parents house and the short time of lack of humidity let the shells harden. So I helped them out, flecked away at pieces of broken shell so that the little ducks could emerge from each egg.

It was amazing to see them come out of the birth sack in the egg and they have umbilical cords that come loose from the sack.

They're part Muscovy and some either Mallard or Pekin.

Ducks have to be some of the coolest birds ever.
We can dance if we want to
We can leave your friends behind
Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance
Well they're no friends of mine.

Ya think they'll eat mosquitos like full bred mucscovies?
My opinion is stupid and wrong.

Knowing that they're ducks: If they can see it, they will eat it.
They're already eating solid food.

Cherish them now, while you can. Because, before you know it, they'll be off to college, never writing or phoning home (save to ask for more Purina Duck Chow) and you're left with a terminal case of 'empty nest syndrome'.

Anyone else out there know the French dance tune called The Three Ducks?!

I'm going to a session tonight and will play it in honour of the three in question!

I have never known birds of
different species to flock together.
The very concept is unimaginable.
Why if that happened, we wouldn't
have a chance. How could we possibly
hope to fight them?
