Thank you, Mike, for hosting it!
My husband Dan wrote the song. We recorded it about a year and a half ago. I thought it was about marriage, but he said it's more about death. It's called Bridge of Sighs. The historical Bridge of Sighs was in Venice and it led to a prison. Apparently, if one crossed the bridge to the prison, he (or she, but usually he) never left. So it was like a death sentence. (See below, in someone else's post, for better info on the Bridge of Sighs.) I think the song is beautiful.
Dan (Driscoll) wrote it, sings it and does keyboard stuff. His recording engineer, Mark Dann, plays bass and guitar. I play whistle and sing harmony vocals.
The only whistle I used in this recording was a Burke composite Low F. Check out the upper octave...it's very sweet.

FYI, one must indeed be a Yahoo member and join the group to access the file. Had the former already, so did the latter.
The song is lovely...I wanted to give it a listen because I'm fascinated by the nuts and bolts of the creative process, and was curious whether you two could manage what I've personally found to be extremely difficult: Husband and wife/life partners working well and effectively in this kind of collaboration. You've succeeded marvellously. The arrangement is well done; I liked the way the whistle weaves in and out throughout, supporting the other instruments or standing alone with just the right touch of melancholy. Your voices work well together, also. Enjoyable...thank you.

- Tell us something.: I play the first flute Jon Cochran ever made but haven't been very active on the board the last 9-10 years. Life happens I guess...I owned a keyed M&E flute for a while and I kind of miss it.

The Bridge of Sighs goes to a chamber that is actually below the sealine at night. As the tide comes in the person drowns because he is shackled to the wall. One can actually see the very small window that leads to the dungeon on a small pedestrian bridge nearby (Its close to the warf).
Might I suggest using acidplanet.com
This way people don't have to sign up to hear you play and you can store a lot of music on there. Plus, it doesn't cost a thing...
And it says that the page is forbidden for me.

It's now available at http://www.coastalfog.net/whistles/03bridgeofsighs1.mp3
It's pretty large. It took about 30 seconds to play, coming in over a fairly fast DSL line.
