Actually, it's nearly impossible to be a vegetarian in some places. The corporate food service industry has all but destroyed the locally owned restaurants and markets. They promote and/or own the bad (in my opinion) commercially produced meat that drives much of the cruelty issues. I try and support any small independent restaurant or shops I run across. They tend to use locally grown meat and produce.

I've been a vegetarian for 16 years this past Easter. Hubby gave up meat one year after I did, and our daughter has always been vegetarian.
That said, I can't stand PETA. Their campaigns are so over-the-top they give all animal-rights people a bad name. I especially hate the way they tend to target young children, who really don't have much say in what they're served for dinner or what their parents choose to wear.
I also don't see much point in targeting a particular restaurant. It's not as if KFC were the only restaurant to use animals raised and slaughtered under grossly inhumane conditions...in fact, that's true of MOST of the meat that's raised and consumed here in the U.S., whether you buy it at KFC or at your local supermarket. Heck, a few years ago they targeted Tyson and, while some people may have stopped buying the Tyson brand, it didn't have much impact on the consumption of chicken overall.
