Olympic "sports"

Post by gonzo914 »

Put me down for poker -- 5 card stud and Texas Hold 'em and not that sissy Dr. Pepper or Spit in the Ocean stuff that girls and cops play.

And don't be bringing your penny jar to the table, either. If you can't fold it, you can't bet it.

Pass the beer.

I vote for:
The ancient Cretans had the sport of bull leaping. The brave contestant, both male and female, stood before a charging bull. At the last minute they leapt up, grabbed the horns and did a flip over the bull's back. I wish I could get that on ESPN. I don't know if it was a sport for sport sake or a ritual.
Hey, where'd the poll go?

Operator error. Suits walked in, so I had to hide, which broke my chain of thought. Now there's two of everything.

Drat.

I think "twirly ribbons" is officially called "rhythmic jailbait", anyway.

or is it "parents starving their psychotically performance-obsessed children"?

In the real interest of the Olympic ideal and honouring the 2000 years of that ideal, I think that all participants this year in Athens should perform naked as they did in ancient Athens. That would surely increase spectator interest.

How about Power Shopping? It's scarily agressive to witness.

Your inerests being Greco-Roman Wrestling and Weight Lifting, right?

I voted for bowling - it was the closest I could come to "None of the above"

I think anything not involving an objective score or measurable mass or dimension should be tossed out. For our Southern members, I nominate Stock Car Racing for inclusion in the 2012 Games.

I would like to see the flinging of telephone poles, -- you know that strange things Scots do after too much Scotch whisky. The Irish do the sane thing after a little Irish Whiskey, the pull out a whistle and play...

I could go for that!

Maybe Tony Stewart could join the Greco-Roman wresting team, too.

I do not feel obliged to believe that that same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use.

Extreme skateboarding gets my vote. Now that's a REAL sport! Or maybe surfing, but that would kind of limit the location options for the games.

I KNOW for a fact that the US would win. (Competitive eating)

We wouldn't even need tryouts; we could just pick a few citizens at random. ;)

How about a biathlon: competitive eating, then synchronized swimming?
