Weird guy; apparently couldn't handle the fame. But he was the impersonation of "method" acting and influenced a couple of generations of actors.

I just read an article about him the other day. It said he was $20million in debt. Dies at a ripe old age after living large. I hope I'm so lucky.

Did you mean "impersonation" or "personification"?

And your signature is cool.

Did anyone see Brando in "The Island of Dr. Moreau" on Sci-Fi?
Great movie. I think he did the part dirt cheap.
I'm no longer trying a new posting paradigm

I think Marlon Brando was a great actor and, even with all of the acclaim, I think he was underrated. What a sad life he seemed to have in recent years. So much tragedy.

I would now like to share with you a short list of my favorite actors.

Ed Harris
Henry Fonda
Martin Sheen
Dennis Franz, even though I haven't watched NYPD in 5 years.

personification... sorry, some days i shouldn't try to write English. Need.. more... sleep! :)

Five favourite actors:

William Shatner
Debra Winger
Anthony Quinn
Gerard Depardieu
John Wayne

I'm convinced that Marlon Brando was simply the best actor of his time. You just have to look at how actors performed before and after, to see how he changed the art, made it "real".

He starred in my favorite movie, On the Waterfront, and was great in The Godfather and One-eyed Jacks.

Favorite five:

Brando
DeNiro
Bogart
Ed Norton (not Art Carney)
Val Kilmer

That last reflects our (my daughter and I) rebellion against David Thomson for omitting Kilmer from his Biographical Dictionary of Film. Remember, Kilmer was great in Thunderheart, Salton Sea, and Tombstone.

You should have seen him as The Great Big Head in Third Planet from the Sun. Truly one of the great performances of all time.

Best wishes,
Jerry

I think Shater did a few 'Twilight Zone' or 'Night Gallery' episodes... not memorable acting but certainly better than his singing career.
