...that King of the Hill is ten times as deep as The Simpsons, and maybe even a little deeper than Daria?

Well...

I have no idea what Daria might be, but with regard to the other two, I would certainly concur that the adjective "deep" could be used in any description of them - though that would not, of course, be the full description.

It's good for those in America who are not part of the coastal urban or suburban ironic subculture and don't see many shows that remind them of their neighbors or own family. I like the show though I don't watch it much. I like the Asian neighbors, they really crack me up.

I dont know about it being that much deeper than the Simpsons though. Those scripts penetrate deeply, or more properly, eviscerate. KOH's characters are actually a bit more realistic, I think.

Boohbah is WELL STRANGE.I was off work one day,and Idly turned on the T.V., to see this L.S.D trip of a toddlers' show!

O.K.-It IS a bit of a Tele-tubbies rip off,but I think the crew are on stronger drugs!

Well, I have a TV card and rabbit ears up here in the hlls and can get PBS and occasionally some snowy NBC.

I think I may have some of them at my kids home.

I lost interest in TV right after they dropped Mission Impossible.

I have heard from other people that they have seen us on TV and we got some bookings from a community college tv thing they did for the local access cable in Winston-Salem, NC.

I may have been on tv more than I have watched it, I don't really know.

I watched the Riverdance thingy on PBS and it looked like Davy Spillaine was finger-syncing his whistle solo.

My hubby and I vote for the Sipsons being deeper....you have to
know SO MUCH about every subject; especially the Beatles;
to understand lots of their jokes. A very cool show...and on here
twice nightly, ha ha

King of the Hill, while perhaps initially little more than a half-hour long Texas joke (as an Oklahoman, I've no serious objections to that), has taken shape as something distinct enough from the Simpsons that it seems a little like comparing rec***ers to whistles. They just aren't the same thing.

The pop-culture references in King of the Hill are more relatable, such as when they are eating at Whataburger, or Pancho's, or Taco Bueno, etc.

Far as I can recall, the only sit-com ever to take place here in Eastern Oklahoma was The Torkelsons. I guess the network execs didn't like the non-coastal non-urban setting, as they moved them to Seattle, or somewhere, in the second season. Then it was cancelled.

That was my favorite eating place when I was in flight training at Sofley Field in Pensacola, FL. Are they still in business?
