Completely OT:

Look at this amazing image. It appeared this evening on cnn.com in a story about an expected heavier-than-usual hurricane season.

So pretty...but so potentially destructive. Guess it just depends on where you're standing when you look at it.

Isn't that the truth? I like that really, really far away place to stand.

And people are afraid of our earthquakes!!!! Big earthquakes happen every once in a while, Those things happen SEVERAL times a year. Granted hurricanes can be seen and tracked and earthquakes sneak up on us, still...... THAT thing is SCARY :boggle:

What's scary on that? You know that a hurrican is going to come to your area a few days before! But you don't know at what time the earthquake will come! OR?

Actually it looks like it's off the coast of the Carolinas. But it's not hurricane season yet! Dale, is this image somewhat current or is it from some previous storm? Too bad they can't send some of it our way - we need the water. You know a drought is bad when we'll take a hurricane just to get water.
Damn that global warming!

Hey, is that movie about global warming? I don't watch entertainment tv or read the Hollywood columns... From the promos, I thought it was another asteroid flick.
How do you prepare for the end of the world?

No it's a film about nature catostrophies(????), like floodings, tornados, hurrikans, ice all over the world, that the world becomes warmer and stuff like that.

That looks an awful lot like Isabel, which hit us last fall. It tracked somewhat northerly from there and made landfall in Virginia.

I am working with an unproofread printout of a sixth grade world history textbook which explains that human migration followed a period of global worming. I'd move, I'll tell ya.
