Here here on the night sky!

We've gone out to the So. California desert to go camping where one of our evening activities was to set up three Celestrons on three different celestial sites. Many oohs and aahs and it sets the spirit for the subsequent campfire that follows...

Five different posters who are night sky watchers (I only do it on occasion, with binox and bare eye, and usually up in Maine where the skies are clear and dark).

What I want to know is is this a trend or is there just something about tube-y pasttimes that attracts us. Hmmmm?

My primary astronomy tool is a simple pair of 7 x 35 binoculars. It is amazing what you can see with only these. Of course, I like to go to star parties where you can sneak a peek through a light-bucket now and then, too!

P.S. - we have GREAT views of Omega from here!

Lee,

I think it is a tubular thing

Dan,

We're pretty close to your magnitude here in Nebraska. The pleides are easily visible most nights.
I used to have a job near Arthur Nebraska. Arthur (pop. 125) is the only town in a county of 120 square miles. It's in the panhandle and if you look at a map of Nebraska you can get an idea of how dark the nights are.

Yep..Binoculars are the favorite standbye of Experienced and non experienced alike. I looked at a pair of 105mm Binos awhile back
But decided that it was going a bit to far LOL, Like I said..I'm a big mirror fan. I recently saw a 10 inch f 4.5 reflector with GOTO for only 895 dollars. Seriously widefield viewing there

I like astronomy too. Used to have a 6" reflector, and got to see quite a few nice celestial objects, but soon got tired of hauling it out, aligning, etc. Now, I content myself with my 7X50 binocs, and on warm nights, bring a whistle along to play when my arms start to get tired from holding them up...

Why Dan!!

Honey Bunny, I never had any idea that you were dating someone else! Does this mean that I can have your whistles?

Tell us something.: Just updating my profile after 16+ years of C&F membership. Sold most of my flutes, play the ones I still own and occasionally still enjoy coming here and read about flute related subjects.

Hi A.Lemons & G. Guy,

It's funny, I'm trying to picture you both sitting at home on a different computer communicating with eachother through the board

And anyway, that Dan is such a fine hunk o' man, surely there's enough to go round?

Maybe I could have him Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and Lemons could have him on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

And his whistles get a look in on Sundays!

True, he is rather energetic and good natured, most of the time. But dating someone else will suck up so much time he will no longer be needing his whistles. So I get the whistle collection!! Oh; and just a hint. In order to keep him in really good spirits, you have to keep a constant supply of home made chocolate chip cookies with walnuts on hand. Plus a chocolate cake here and there. He also won't wear quarter socks, cause he thinks they are "woosey" socks. (how's that for personal information hunny bunny? )
