I'm one of the newer 'kids on the block' but I have to say your wife, yourself, and your family (how many girls?) are all in my prayers -- and so will be her surgical team come Thursday morning. God Bless you all!

Best Wishes for a speedy recovery!

Thursday, 2:30 p.m.

I'm at the hospital. Arleen came out of surgery a couple of hours ago.

Everything's perfect. She looks good, still very groggy, still intubated. Another hour or two, and she'll be able to breathe on her own and talk again.

She'll be in the hospital 'til Sunday or Monday. Then we'll stay at an inn close to the hospital for another several days before I drive her back home to Orwell.

The children are farmed out to friends and neighbors, and we'll keep them farmed out for another week after we return, to keep things quiet while Arleen gets some of her strength back.

Best wishes,
Jerry

Glad things are looking good. The good wishes are still flowing...
And whether the blood be highland, lowland or no.
And whether the skin be black or white as the snow.
Of kith and of kin we are one, be it right, be it wrong.
As long as our hearts beat true to the lilt of a song.

We expected good news Jerry. We hope it just keeps getting better. The prayers won't stop until she is completely healed and up to snuff. All the best. BTW are the mice taking care of the whistle tweaking?

Thanks, everyone.

She's breathing on her own now, thoroughly exhausted, in a lot of pain and not in a good mood. However, she looks great, and everyone caring for her says she's doing extremely well.

Best wishes,
Jerry

Well, at least this hurdle is now in the past and you can look forward to a long time with Arleen. Hopefully they are able to alleviate her pain. Operations take a lot out of a person but maybe she was stronger at this point than she would have been a month down the road. And no wonder she's not in the best of moods. Hospitals are not the best places for feeling better (no insult meant against some of the wonderful nurses who offset the less-appealing aspects). Once you guys get home, things will get better.
So glad to hear all is well!! :)
